Verde guide

Booking on your own website

Your club’s website doesn’t have to be built with Verde for golfers to book through Verde. If your site is on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow or anything else, you can put Verde’s booking right on it. Golfers pick a time and book without leaving your site, and every booking shows up in Verde - on your tee sheet, in your reports - exactly like one made anywhere else.

It works for tee times, simulators, courts, rooms, tournaments and private event enquiries. It uses your Verde colors and fonts, and golfers pay the same way they do on your Verde site.

Before you start

Booking on your website is part of your Verde subscription. In Verde, go to Website → Booking on your own website. The top of that page tells you whether it’s switched on. If it isn’t, you can still set everything up - your site will just show a short message instead of booking until it is. Contact Verde to switch it on.

The three steps

1
Add your website's address

Go to your own website in your browser and copy the address from the bar at the top - something like https://www.yourclub.com. Paste it into step 1 in Verde and save. If your site works both with and without “www”, add both, one per line.

This is what keeps your booking yours: it only works on the websites you list, so nobody else can put it on their site.

2
Choose what golfers can book

Tee times, simulators, courts, rooms, tournaments or private events. Pick one.

3
Copy the code and paste it into your website

Click Copy the code. Then, on your website, add it to the page where booking should appear - the next section shows exactly where for each website builder. It’s two short lines; you don’t need to change anything in them.

If someone else looks after your website, just send them the code and point them to this guide.

Where to paste the code

WordPress

Edit the page. Click the + to add a block, search for Custom HTML, and add it. Paste the code into the block, then Update or Publish.

Squarespace

Edit the page. Click Add Block and choose Code. Paste the code into it, make sure the mode is set to HTML, and save.

Code blocks aren’t available on every Squarespace plan - if you don’t see one, check your plan in Squarespace.

Wix

In the editor, click Add Elements → Embed Code → Embed HTML. Choose Code, paste it in, and click Update. Drag the box to the size you want, then publish.

Wix runs added code inside its own box, which has a different web address from your site. If your page shows “This website is not allowed to show this booking widget”, the message tells you the address it saw - add that address in step 1 and it will work.

Webflow

Drag an Embed element onto the page, paste the code, click Save & Close, then publish the site.

Anything else

Look for a block or element called HTML, Code, Embed or Custom code. Paste the code there. Most website builders have one.

If something doesn’t look right

“Online booking is not active on this site”

Booking on your website isn’t switched on for your club, or the thing being booked (say, simulators) isn’t part of your subscription. Contact Verde.

“This website is not allowed to show this booking widget”

The address of the page showing booking isn’t in your list from step 1. The message shows the address it saw - add exactly that, and reload the page.

“This booking widget is not set up”

The code was changed while pasting, or that website was turned off in Verde. Copy the code again from step 3 and paste it fresh.

Nothing shows at all

Some website builders only run added code on the live site, not in their editor or preview. Publish the page and look at it on your real website.

Questions golfers ask

Is it safe to pay on our site? Yes. Payment is handled by Stripe, the same way as on your Verde site - card details never touch your website.

Do bookings show up in Verde? Yes, immediately, like any other booking. Your usual confirmation emails go out too.

Can members sign in on our website? Yes, if your website was built with the Booking API. Members sign in with their Verde account on a Verde page and come straight back, signed in - your website never sees their password. They can then book what you offer to members only, and charge it to their member account. To turn it on, press Member sign-in on your developer’s key (Website → API → Build Your Own → Step 1) and add the return address they give you.

What about release day? If the club opens a season of tee times through a line (Tee sheet → Tee time releases in Verde), booking on your website shows golfers the line for those dates. Joining it opens in its own tab, where they sign in and wait their turn.

Building your own booking screens from scratch instead? That’s the Booking API - start with the technical notes for developers.
